The 5th in the series of Delivering 20 on 22nd May 2026 was entitled 20mph for Safer Streets. We heard practical tips from Local Authority officers and councillors from Cornwall and Oxfordshire about how to implement 20mph most effectively. With the latest update on 20mph in Wales - 2 years of excellent results - expert speakers demonstrated how implementing 20mph in England could help the UK government towards its target of 65% reduction in road casualties. They also spoke about the need to amend guidance to local authorities on Setting Local Speed Limits. This is ninety minutes that you won't want to miss!
The 4th in the series of Delivering 20 was on 10th December 2025. This focused, one and a half hour session unpacked the behavioural and cultural factors that shape the success of 20mph implementation, drawing lessons from Wales and beyond. Viewers will gain insights from new casualty data, learn from behavioural science research, and hear reflections on the evidence behind national reviews and professional guidance.
In his latest newsletter, Will Hayward reports on how 20mph is "working great" in Wales.
The 3rd in our series of highly popular "Delivering 20" webinars was on 24th June 2025. The theme was "20mph with exceptions at 30mph: How 20mph lays the foundation for Vision Zero". Will Norman, London's Walking and Cycling Commissioner, discussed the benefits of making London effectively a default 20, Dr Suzy Charman, Executive Director, Road Safety Foundation spoke about the importance of “survivable speeds” in achieving zero road deaths and Sue Nicholls, 20’s Plenty for Us CIC summarised progress towards a ‘de facto' default 20mph across Wales, Scotland and England.
I was delighted to be asked to speak at the opening plenary session at the inaugural Vision Zero - 20's Plenty conference on 15th May, 2025. The conference was hosted by Liverpool City Region and Landor. It had over 200 attendees and was showing how default 20mph urban/village speed limits both complement and form the foundation for Vision Zero and a safe system.
Whilst I couldn't be at the conference due to a pre-arranged holiday, I did speak via a link and pre-recorded this video in case of any technical issues on the day. I am pleased to say that the link all worked well.
On 26th February 2025, 20's Plenty and Landor Links hosted the second in our highly successful series of webinars on "Delivering 20". Experts analysed and discussed the results of the nationwide 20mph default speed limit in Wales, which has led to a 28% reduction in casualties and lowered car insurance premiums by around £50 per driver. Over 500 attendees learned how some Welsh councils were making exceptions to the national 20mph rule on a very small number of roads and the increasing extent to which 20mph is being rolled in England. The panel called on the UK government to change the guidance on setting local speed limits, to make it easier and cheaper for local authorities in England to implement 20mph.
Responses from attendees included:
"I expected an informative and valuable event and definitely got it"
"Possibly the best webinar on any subject I have attended! No waffle, just solid information. Fantastic."
"...more data than I was expecting which was brilliant....deep dive into how 20mph was implemented in Wales and its positive impacts"
On 9th Oct 2024 20's Plenty hosted a conference with Landor Links and sponsored by the Project Centre.
Presentations were made by Oxfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Cornwall and Surrey councils on how they are delivering 20mph limits as a norm to communities. The Project Centre also gave a perspective.
The online conference was attended by 500 delegates and demonstrates the huge interest from councils around the country in setting 20mph as a norm.
